Happy Labor Day!

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. Now let's get you ready for Hopscotch! It's a three-day celebration of music in downtown Raleigh from September 4th to the 6th. It’s known for its diverse and adventurous lineups, with over 120 bands playing in across an array of venues you can walk to across town.

Here’s your quick guide to a good time:

  • Free Day Parties: This is where some of the best vibes are! Local venues like The Pour House and Kings host free day parties that are open to everyone. It's a chance to see some amazing bands and discover new music without needing a wristband at venues like Kings, The Pour House, Slims, Neptunes, Boxcar and many more!

  • Main Stages: You've got two big outdoor stages, one at City Plaza and another at Moore Square, where the headliners will be. You can catch big-name acts like My Morning Jacket, Geese and Sparks here.

  • Club Shows: The party doesn't stop with the main stages! Downtown Raleigh clubs host tons of late-night sets. It's a great way to experience a more intimate show.

About 25% of the artists performing at the festival are from North Carolina. It’s a great chance to support the local music scene and find some incredible new bands. Hopscotch is all about embracing the unexpected and just letting the music move you. It’s a city-wide celebration for locals and visitors alike. So, go with the flow, explore, and let the good times roll!

Here is a list of all the FREE Day Parties happening from Wednesday through Sunday!

Get ready for a night of epic jams! Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country is coming to Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on Thursday, September 4th, and he's bringing some serious firepower with him. He'll be joined by two powerhouse bands: Yonder Mountain String Band and Railroad Earth.

This is a show you will not want to miss. All three bands are known for their incredible live performances and improvisational skills, so expect a night filled with stellar musicianship, good vibes, and some awesome collaborations. It’s a full evening of progressive bluegrass and cosmic country that's guaranteed to get you moving. See you there!

Local Talent Spotlight: Kitchen Sink at Bond Brothers Eastside

This past Saturday night we found our way to Bond Brothers Eastside for a dose of a new local bluegrass jam group called Kitchen Sink. This fresh group features a killer lineup with Derek Lane on bass, Jack Weisner on guitar, and Shawn McKee on mandolin. They're already creating a buzz in the scene and you can see why. The second set brought some serious heat with surprise guest appearances and an awesome string of covers. They blessed the crowd with "Comfortably Numb," "Magic Carpet Ride," and "Fire on the Mountain."
