There's something special about the weeknight show.

It's easy to convince yourself to stay home when the laptop closes and the alarm is set for the next morning, but we almost never regret saying yes to live music. A few hours with good friends at a show has a way of breaking up the routine and leaving you wondering why you don't do this more often, completely changing the rhythm of an ordinary Tuesday or Wednesday.

AVL Sounds Fest

There are festivals built around a single stage - and then there are festivals built around an entire city. AVL Sounds Fest transforms Asheville into one big music venue, with more than 200 artists performing across 15+ stages over four days. Instead of staying in one place, festivalgoers are encouraged to wander between iconic venues like The Orange Peel, The Grey Eagle, Asheville Music Hall and smaller bars and listening rooms, discovering everything from indie rock and bluegrass to funk, jazz, Americana, and experimental sounds along the way.

This year's lineup reflects everything we love about North Carolina's mountain music scene: nationally acclaimed headliners like Dr. Dog, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Big Freedia, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, and Grace Bowers, alongside a deep roster of regional favorites and hometown heroes. If your ideal festival involves exploring new neighborhoods as much as new bands, AVL Sounds Fest is one of the most unique music experiences our state has to offer. And better yet, the festival is partnering with WNC Long Haul - Recovery and Resilience Fund to help provide ongoing support for folks impacted by Hurricane Helene.
