I'm feeling extra grateful this week. The energy from the past few weeks has been incredible, and it's a powerful reminder of how special this community is. Thank you for showing up, for dancing your hearts out, and for making the live music scene here in the Triangle so much fun!

Mt. Joy at Koka Booth Amphitheatre

The Philly-based indie-folk rockers are bringing their soulful sound and high-energy jams to the Koka Booth Amphitheatre tonight. Get ready to sing your heart out to all the fan favorites like “Astrovan” and enjoy tracks from their latest album “Hope We Have Fun”.

$1 from every ticket sold goes to Backline. Backline is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources.

ALSO…. Mt. Joy is teaming up with Sharing Excess to collect non-perishable food donations outside of Gate 5 before the show! One lucky fan who donates will get a chance to watch the show backstage with a friend. Canned, non-perishable items, or monetary donations are allowed! All donations will be provided to local organizations fighting food insecurity in Cary, NC.

Bowstring Brewyard

This past Thursday at Bowstring Brewyard was a special night! I had the pleasure of meeting Tom Hamilton and his impressive new band. They opened the night played through a variety of soulful and funky tunes from Tom’s original catalog.

Next up was Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe! This heavy hitting septet really had the crowd locked in from the first song with deep funky grooves and extended improve sections. Vocalist Dani Barker really shined on stage and guitarist Ricky Giordano had some ripping solos.

Karl was showing his range of talent performing songs on alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, flute and even rocking percussion like cowbell and tambourine!

Raleigh Wide Open Music Festival

Everyone is talking about the very first Raleigh Wide Open! This awesome new festival is coming to downtown Raleigh, beautifully filling the void left by the departure of the IBMA Bluegrass Festival. It’s got a killer lineup with headliners Greensky Bluegrass and JJ Grey & Mofro, so you know the vibes are going to be on point.

While there’s still a ton of incredible bluegrass, the festival is also celebrating a more diverse range of styles and genres, including some of our favorite North Carolina artists. We’re especially stoked to see local legends like Tray Wellington, Town Mountain, Blue Cactus, and Sonny Miles on the stages.

This free event is a perfect way to celebrate the community and the rich musical heritage of our state. Hope to see y’all out in downtown Raleigh the first weekend of October!
